We have learned that Abdul Khaliq Hazara the Chairman and Ahmad Ali Kohzad, the secretary general of (HDP) have each won a seat in the Balochistan parliamentary elections in Quetta. Their success in the elections is very important in two ways: First, it is the first time that the Hazara party wins two seats in the provincial parliament. Secondly, the party won the two seats without support or interference from outside and with the sheer hard work of the party faithful and the support of the people.
The success comes at a time when the Hazaras of Quetta have faced violence and intimidation from extremists ad religious fundamentalist that had made life very hard and miserable .
HDP’s activity in bringing people together and creating understanding unity among them gives people the hope for a better future.
The success of HDP is the success of democratic and progressive forces; it is the success of intellectuals and educated people who have some knowledge of politics and can decide about their people’s interests without interference from outside; it is the success of moderation over religious extremism so that instead of religious confrontations, it would create an environment of understanding with similar and like-minded groups in the country; and lastly it is the success of a principled and organized institution that is based on the interest of people and the principle and interest of people are central and pivotal not individual whims and wishes.
WHC extends its sincere congratulations due to this unprecedented success to the two committed, devoted and compassionate individuals, the party ranks and files and their supporters and well-wishers worldwide.
