About Us (Who we are)?

The World Hazara Council is a civil, social, cultural and non-profit organization working for the rights and development of Hazara society around the world.It is an apolitical and non-religious entity that does not discriminate based on gender, sexual orientation, religous or political belief.The World Hazara Council (WHC) is the international organization that represents Hazara communities around the world. The WHC is a non-partisan and non-political organisation with the aim of promoting the cultural, social and civil rights of the Hazara people and to advocate on their behalf in media, governments and civil society organisations. The WHC is the umbrella body that aspires to represent the diverse Hazara communities and organisations around the world and facilitate greater cooperation between them. The World Hazara Council was formally inaugurated in early 2013 following two years of consultation with an extensive network of Hazara activists and civil society organisations from across the globe. The first meeting of the WHC took place on 21 April 2013 in Vienna. There were sixty-one participants representing their communities from all over the world including Europe, the US, Canada, and Australia.

Our Mission

World Hazara Council exists to work towards the following priorities:

  •  To establish a worldwide platform for Hazara solidarity and a point of contact for consultation and assistance.
  •  To work on human rights issues concerning Hazaras across Afghanistan.
  • To advocate and lobby for better protection for Hazara refugees and people seeking asylum from Afghanistan in the Asia Pacific region and beyond.
  •  To establish a think tank for members to engage in research and to promote social mobility for Hazara communities across the world.
